Georgetown and Round Rock are two cities many people who reach out to me ask about.

Are you looking for a place to settle down near Austin? Georgetown is a charming, historic, and peaceful city that many people love. But if you want to live in an area with more activities and a better school district, you might want to consider moving to Round Rock.

Georgetown and Round Rock are about 32 miles apart. They are both located in Williamson County, which is just north of Austin. Round Rock is a much larger city with a population of 123,876 (2021), while Georgetown is a smaller city with a population of just over 75,000 people.

Some of the most popular things to do in Georgetown include visiting the Williamson County Courthouse, exploring the Georgetown Palace Theatre, and browsing the unique shops on the square. For a taste of local history, be sure to check out the Southwestern University campus or take a walking tour of the beautiful downtown area.

Round Rock is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. There are plenty of things to do in the area, including:

-Visit the Round Rock Express baseball team at Dell Diamond

-Catch a movie at Flix Brewhouse

-Explore the Williamson Museum

-Shop at the Round Rock Premium Outlets

-Take a walk or bike ride on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail

-Have fun at Playland Skate Center

-Check out the animals at the Austin Zoo

- Cool off at Inner Space Cavern

Clearly, both Georgetown and Round Rock have plenty of things to offer residents, but which is the better place to live? When it comes to the cost of living, there are some subtle differences that may impact your decision on which city to call home.

The median home value in Georgetown is $525k, while in Round Rock, it is $500k. So if you're looking for a more affordable place to live, then Round Rock may be the city for you. However, Georgetown may be a better fit if you're willing to spend a little extra for a nicer home and more amenities.

Public schools in Round Rock are part of the Round Rock ISD, which is highly rated. The district includes 35 elementary schools, eleven middle schools, seven high schools, and three alternative schools. There are also a number of charter and magnet schools within the district.

While Georgetown ISD might not be as highly rated as Round Rock ISD, Georgetown ISD is still one of the best school districts in Texas and enrolls more than 12,500 students in its seventeen schools. The district offers a wide range of academic programs and extracurricular activities to meet the needs of all students. It also has a lower student-to-teacher ratio, a 95.5% graduation rate, and spends 20.7% more per student than Round Rock ISD.

If the school district is a big concern for you when moving, you might want to consider watching the following video about Texas schools in the comment section below.

There is no clear winner when it comes to Georgetown vs. Round Rock. Both cities have pros and cons, so it depends on what you're looking for in a place to live. Georgetown might be the better choice if you want a smaller-town feel with access to big-city amenities. But if you're looking for more outdoor activities and a lower cost of living, Round Rock could be the place for you. Ultimately, the decision comes down to what's most important to you in a city.
